Quick Home Knitting and Crochet Patterns - This is Knit

Another bank holiday weekend is upon us! If you are like me, you probably have a couple WIPs (work-in-progress projects) on the go already so your weekend knitting is sorted. Or, if you're also like me, you sometimes just want an instant gratification project.

With that in mind, we've put together a handful of quick (and free!) knitting and crochet projects you could tackle over the weekend. You can stash bust some yarn with these projects or if you are feeling inspired, make a shopping appointment with us to pick up some new yarn to play with! Who doesn't love new yarn?

Swatchtastic by Tin Can Knits

This project is a triple-whammy. You can stash bust, swatch yarns for future projects, and have some fun, colourful bunting to decorate your garden or balcony with! Sometimes the weather doesn't always cooperate with us for bank holiday weekend, but you could easily decorate your kid's bedrooms with this bunting as well. Best of all, this can be worked in any yarn and in any gauge at all.

The Almost Lost Washcloth by Julie Tarsha

Looking for an eco-friendly wash cloth or dish cloth? These delightful little stars knit up quick with 100% cotton yarn and can be machine washed and reused countless times. I use mine as potholders as well. There's even a Mini Almost Lost Washcloth available which would be just perfect as an eco-friendly makeup remover.

Disclaimer: The following two crochet patterns are linked to their Ravelry pattern pages.

Stash Basket by Emily Bolduan

This super cute crochet basket would be a great project to knock out one afternoon. Using two strands of worsted weight yarn held double, you can go for the marled effect as shown on the pattern page, or maybe a solid colour option or even a colour blocked effect to make your basket pop. Throw in some yarn, or use it to hold your WIPs!

Soft Merino Aran from Rico Design would be perfect for this basket with so many bright and cheerful colours to choose from. Creative Cotton from Rico Design would also be a great option. Both are affordable and machine washable as well, which is a great bonus!

Leaf Coasters by Katherine Laight

These leaf coasters are so pretty! How neat would it be to make these in shades of green for spring and summer, and then again in shades of rust brown, red, and orange for the autumn? You don't even have to use them as coasters - they would be so cute strung up as bunting. Crocheted with sport weight yarn, these leaf coasters would be stunning worked up in the colour palettes of either CaMaRose's Økologisk Hverdagsuld or Rosarios 4 BaladaOr if you wanted some beautiful varigations in the leaves, what about Malabrigo Arroyo?
