Cosy Knits Has Landed
October 01 2019 – Nadia Coburn
As I type, the latest book by Carol Feller has just landed in the shop and I am currently surrounded by "ooohs" and "ahhhs" as those lucky shoppers get to feast their eyes on a wealth of knitwear that has been designed to make you feel cosy and comforted.
Cosy Knits is an exciting collaboration project that includes Bristol Ivy, Eimear Earley, Joan Forgione, Rachel Coopey, Louise Tilbrook, Louisa Harding, Kate Heppell, Jimenez Joseph and Carol Feller. Each designer has centred their design on what 'cosy' means to them. How they want you to feel when you wear the finished object but also how you feel when you are in the process of making.
The book features 9 designs; 4 garments and 5 accessories that have a range of techniques with both charted and written instructions. There is also a supporting introductory essay by Nadia Seaver which explores the meaning behind our knitting and includes what "Cosy" means in each of the designers own words.
The photography for Cosy knits was shot on location in Cork in The Oval, Fionnbarra Bar and Deasy's Restaurant by Joseph Feller which adds a unique background and plays on the word 'cosy'. Jordan Walsh and Francesca Castellano are the models who helped bring the collection to life and we are in love with the easy style in this book.
