Fiarlán Yarn Bundle | Studio Donegal - This is Knit

The Fiarlán Wrap designed by Eimear Earley in Studio Donegal's Donegal Wool Spinning Company yarn is the ultimate cold weather companion. Outdoor coffee dates and garden chats can only be enhanced with this beautiful tweedy wrap around your shoulders.

The design provides an introduction to cutting steeks, intended to help you chop your knitting without fear!

The pattern begins by casting on lengthways using a provisional cast on with waste yarn. A garter stitch border is worked flat, before joining in the round to work the simple stranded colour work motif and steek stitches. Then a second garter stitch border is worked flat, before finishing with an icord bind off. Then, the provisional cast on is unpicked, and also finished with an icord bind off. Then the steek is cut and unravelled to form a knotted fringe.

Curious about the pattern name? Fiarlán is is the Irish word for ‘zig zag’ and is pronounced ‘fear-LAWN’.

The pattern is available for free from Knitty.com

This bundle includes:

  • The yarn required for the full size wrap as shown. (3 skeins each of the shades listed)
  • The pattern is available for free from Knitty.com at the link above.
