Every now and then a shawl pattern comes along that hits a design sweet spot right on the head. That sweet spot is the marriage of a simple yet satisfying pattern repeat with an appealing and luxurious yarn. It sounds so simple but there's a special magic at play when they come together they add up to *so much more* than the sum of their parts.

This was true of Kate Gilbert's Clapotis, of Veera Valimaki's Color Affection and of Andrea Mowry's Find Your Fade.

It's most certainly true of Maxim Cyr's Opus Shawl - a design we have been eagerly awaiting the release of since the first teasers appeared on Instagram earlier this year. Can you believe that the unique fabric in this pattern is achieved using only one colour of yarn per row? Pure magic.

We know you'll find this pattern to be intuitive and (fair warning) quite addictive too!
