Sunday Merino Wool: Light, Soft, and Perfect for Layering
Sunday is the thinnest variant of 100% merino wool from Sandnes Garn, perfect for creating lightweight and comfortable garments with impeccable stitch definition. This non-superwash yarn is versatile enough to be used on its own with single or double strands, or paired with Tynn Silk Mohair for an extra luxurious finish.
Yarn Composition
Merino wool’s natural properties make it a dream to wear: it’s insulating while also breathable, wicking moisture away from the body to keep you warm without feeling damp. The unique structure of merino fibres allows it to retain heat even when moist and can absorb up to 30% of its weight in water before feeling wet. These features make Sunday a wonderful choice for year-round knits, from cosy layers to delicate accessories.
Available in a wide palette of soft neutrals and bold shades, including PetiteKnit’s own range of easy-to-mix colours, Sunday is perfect for garments that require a fine, lightweight finish with superb stitch definition. What’s more, this yarn is ethically sourced, and our supplier guarantees it comes from mulesing-free sheep, so you can craft with confidence.

I got the Sunday by Sandnes Garn in Dyp Petrol for 'The Nutcracker Vest' by Helene Arnesen. Made a swatch for the first time - and some practice stitches (popcorn and seed) held double strand, and so far the yarn is really lovely to use. I did find the darker colour a bit hard to see initially, but as I progressed through the swatch, it gets easier and quicker.
Sunday Merino wool is a beautiful yarn. This is my first time using such a fine yarn, generally I knit DK and Aran weight. Although it’s slow progress, the finished effect is worth it. It’s also my first Petite Knit pattern and my first time to knit a Top Down garment - I think I’m a convert. The colour options are also impressive. I highly recommend this yarn.
