LESSON FOUR
Swatching and Colour Dominance
Swatching and Colour Dominance: Part 1
Swatching and Colour Dominance: Part 2
Before creating this course we knew that Colour Dominance was important to pay attention to. But even we were wowed by how much difference a simple change in yarn position can make to a finished motif. The good news is that, once you understand the role of colour dominance, it's thankfully very easy to keep your background and dominant colours in the right place.
A quick "building block" reminder.
Lessons 2, 3 and 4 work together to build your understanding stranded colourwork techniques. In Lesson 5 you'll choose between the Snug or Slouchy cowl patterns and get casting on. Take your time to make sure you're comfortable with the lessons so far. Experimenting with spare yarn and needles is something we're big fans of here!
If you're ready to move on, then the next page has some specific guidance on casting on (and casting off!) the cowl style of your choice.
Checking Your Gauge
Checking your gauge for a colour work project will be the same as for any other one. Pick your section - away from the edges - and measure two or three times in different spots for the best results.
