The Ailis Sweater is the fourth design in a collection from Zanete Knits, inspired by traditional Latvian motifs, reimagined with a distinctly Irish feel.

In this kit you will receive a printed copy of Zanete's thoughtfully designed knitting pattern together with your choice of colour combination in Townhouse Yarns Farm To Yarn 4ply. Knit the sweater or the steeled cardigan version - either way you'll end up with a beautiful garment that balances heritage, texture, and wearable comfort.

Design Inspiration

The colour palette draws from the rich tones of the Bronze Age, echoing the look of ancient oxidised metals like copper. While the motif itself is adapted from a Latvian mitten, its arrangement gives it a subtle Celtic twist that ties perfectly to the Irish name of the design.

In a refreshing change from traditional placement, the colourwork sits at the lower body and sleeves, allowing the motif to really stand out while keeping the yoke clean and wearable.

Construction & Style

This sweater is worked seamlessly from the top down, featuring a classic European shoulder construction with sleeve caps shaped at the same time as the yoke.
