The Fibre Co. Tundra Pattern Ideas
October 02 2020 – Aisling Charles
Tundra from The Fibre Co. is a bulky weight yarn created from the popular and very much loved formula of baby alpaca, merino, and silk fibres. Accessories and garment patterns created with Tundra not only whip up fast due to the bulky size of this plush yarn, but also enjoy a weightlessness and a cozy warmth you’d expect from such an ample yarn. It is one of those yarns that never fails to make us smile as we pass it in the shop and it really is super soft.
In this blog post, we have put together some pattern suggestions that will work well in this yarn. Take a look at these patterns and see if any of them catch your eye for a potential upcoming project. With the weather getting chillier by the week, we think it's a great time to start thinking about fall and winter knitting and crochet projects to keep you and your loved ones toasty warm!

Beginners Brioche Cowl by Lavanya Patricella
US-based knitwear designer Lavanya Patricella is known for her love of brioche and this Beginners Brioche Cowl is perfect for those looking to dip their toes into this technique.
Sonder Shawl by Helen Stewart
Helen Stewart's Sonder Shawl is the perfect choice for those who want something warm and snug to wrap around them but don't want to wait too long. We loved the definition of the term "Sonder" described in this pattern - the realisation that each random passer by is living a life as vivid and complex as your own. As Helen says, "a mundane moment spent standing in a coffee shop queue becomes suddenly mysterious as you wonder about the inner lives of the strangers who surround you," and 2020 has been all about the queues!
Gwyneth by Leah McGlone
If you are looking for a single skein project for Tundra then the Gwyneth Hat by Leah McGlone is just the pattern for you. With the cable design giving beautiful texture this will definitely keep you warm during the colder months.
Ice River Hat by Helen Stewart
If a more lacy hat is on your to do list then the Ice River Hat by Helen Stewart. Designed as a companion to the Ice River Snood we love the option to add the contrast stripe on both when making the set. This would also be perfect for gift knitting.
Ullock by Marie Greene
Last but not least if you really want to wrap yourself in a super soft hug then the Ullock cardigan by Marie Greene is just the pattern for you. A customer in the shop drew our attention to this one and when we saw the gorgeous one made by Marce from Hey Brown Berry it was love at first sight. The oversized fit makes this perfect for wrapping up as the colder days approach.
What do you think? Have any of these patterns inspired you yet? Have a gander at our range of Tundra and all the gorgeous colourways available. Blue Lagoon is my personal favourite, but honestly - it's so hard to pick between them all!
