Boxed and Cabled Cardigan by Hanna Maciejewska

We all know that Joy is a whizz on the needles and her latest finished cardigan has us all drooling here in This is Knit. Boxed and Cabled is a boxy cardigan with a broad horizontal cable strip starting at the centre back and continuing all over the sleeves.

Work begins with the cable panel, then stitches for the back are picked up from the edge of the cable strip, and the back is continued down to the armholes, after which stitches for both fronts are picked up at the top edge of the cable panel, working here, too, down to the armholes, where the parts are joined and worked together down to the hem. When the body is completed, sleeve stitches are picked up, and the sleeves worked down to the cuffs. Yes, folks, this cardigan is completely seamless!

Joy knitted her cardigan in Walcot Yarn opus which she fell in love with during the Woollinn Yarn Tasting event. If you can't get your hands on Opus, Joy is recommending Carol Feller's Nua yarn or Townhouse Yarns Poolbeg Sport.       

Reagan by Isabell Kraemer

It's Jacqui's turn to dazzle us with her latest finished object and it's Reagan from Isabell Kraemer. The upper shoulder/back part is worked sideways back and forth in plain Stockinette stitch from a provisional cast-on. Stitches are then joined to knit the first sleeve in the round down to the cuff. Then the second sleeve is worked from the provisional cast-on in the round down to the cuff. After that body stitches are picked up from the long side of the back piece to work the fronts and lower back in Harebell Lace to the final length. I-cord finishing is worked last.

Jacqui had her eye on the mYak fibers for this cardigan and she chose mYak Baby Yak and Silk. This yarn is 50% baby yak, 50% silk light fingering-weight blend has all of the best qualities of baby yak with the gorgeous sheen and drape of silk. So you can only imagine the drape in that lace section. You can see Jacqui is rather taken with her Reagan above.

You can, of course, chose any fingering weight yarn for this project. Jacqui is in love with our hand-dyes like Townhouse Yarns Dame 4ply and my own personal favourite Malabrigo Sock.  

The only problem left is to figure out which to cast on first! Which is your favourite?
