The Patterns

Snug or slouchy - we've got you covered! The two starter cowl patterns in this programme use aran or worsted weight yarn, so you'll be seeing progress quickly and getting cosy in a flash.

There's bonus content too, with optional fancy cast ons and cast offs. We never miss a chance to teach you something new!

Colourwork

Really enjoying this. The explanations and videos are excellent. Feel I need to watch demonstrations a few times before starting to knit. Looking forward to the process.

At the Start Line for Colorwork

I am an English knitter, so I am practicing Continental knitting. What a great idea to practice the style that you are not familiar with. It's getting easier, that's for sure. At first it felt like I had 2 left hands - LOL

Colourful Challenge

This is my third follow along with This is Knit. I have just finished knitting the Follow Along Jumper and I am just starting the one for making socks. I can say that I am really excited to follow my path on this Follow Along working with two colours as I’m not good with knitting that has more than one colour.
In the first Follow Along Lisa and her team supported you every step of the way via video lessons and being available for any of those times you felt that you needed extra clarity. Plus you can go along at your own speed. A bonus for me as I am a very slow knitter.
After seeing the first video lesson, I feel that Lisa will breakdown the mystery of working with more than colour and working with colour charts.
If you have always wanted to try knitting with a few colours with an interwoven pattern, but been a bit scared to try. I would purchase this Follow Along. You get a link to the video lessons that are with you for ever and access to Lisa and her team. Plus you can also purchase a ready made up kit of yarns required in some lovely colours. Go for it, what have you got to lose. 😀

Just what I needed!

I've been knitting for well over a decade but had never really gotten the hang of colourwork. This course is so well designed, Lisa and the team have thought of everything. It's a really good balance of video tutorials and written lessons and I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in colourwork, whether new to knitting or an old hand like myself.

My First Colourwork Slouchy Cowl

Just finished my 1st Colourwork Cowl in the slouchy version. I am brand new to Colourwork and have already gained a clearer understanding of how holding my yarn can affect visual dominance of the colours in the pattern.
I’m pleased with how my first cowl has turned out and will move on to the Snug Cowl variation next.
As always, This Is Knit has done a bang up job with their tutorials. (I’ve done My First Sweater & Sock FAL as well 🙏)
I shifted up the pattern slightly due to user error as I missed a repeat but it still looks super.
Thanks Lisa & #tik for helping me develop my knitting skills 🙏🙏

Wow Sharon! That was so fast! Your cowl is absolutely beautiful and I'm delighted that you got on well with all the lessons. Keep an eye out for the bonus content coming soon too!

Follow Along FAQs

This FAL is for all knitters that want to give stranded colourwork a go for the first time, or who have struggled with this technique in the past.

The cowl patterns are knit in the round, so you will need to be comfortable with knitting on circular needles before beginning this Follow Along.

You should be comfortable with casting on, knit, purl and casting off.

You will also need a basic knowledge of knitting in the round.

Your ticket purchase covers lifetime access to all all patterns, downloadables and bonus materials. You will also receive a €30 coupon code towards your Follow Along materials. A total bargain!

You will receive a unique coupon code for use in our online shop after you purchase your follow along ticket.

This code will be valid for 6 months, and it must be used in one single transaction.

We will email you a direct link to the course launch page and you can then navigate at your own pace to the next lesson through the links on each page.

We have dedicated an entire video lesson within the FAL to just this topic, so be sure to check that out.

The starter pattern samples were made in Malabrigo Rios and Camarose Snefnug. Most wool or wool blend yarns in aran / worsted weight will work well for these projects.

Ready-made yarn bundles for this FAL can be found here.

This will depend!

The starter patterns recommend 4.5mm (US 7) needles for the edges and 5mm (US 8) needles for the main fabric.

Everyone's tension is different though, so please feel free to adjust for your own knitting style. We cover this in one of the first lessons of the follow along too. All will be explained, we promise!

Simply pop your query in the chat box at the bottom right hand corner of the screen.

A member of the TIK Team will get back to you within one working day.
