Tuul is inspired by the many flowing vikkel twisted stitch patterns used on knits from Kihnu, a small island in Estonia, which sweep across socks and gloves like the wind (‘tuul’). Here the twisted stitches blow across the sides and around the raglan lines of this sweater.

Estonian knitting is all about techniques, embellishment and regionality. Each knit tells a story about the knitter and where they live. Featuring in Aleks Byrd's Traditions Revisited: Modern Estonian Knits this raglan sweater showcases the Vikkel technique.

Walcot Yarns Opus is the divine yarn of choice for this very special sweater. Knit your Tuul in this truly dreamy blend of merino and alpaca and you'll enjoy every stitch.

Please note this pattern is only available in the book Traditions Revisited Modern Estonian Knits. You have the option to add a copy of the book above.
