Are You Ready To Fall In Love?
September 04 2019 – Nadia Coburn
Here at This is Knit we are all getting very excited about the Love Note Sweater by Tin Can Knits. There's been collective ooh-ing and aah-ing over yarn choices, and animated discussions about sleeve and body lengths.
Whenever a buzz like this happens around the shop floor, it's never long before a knit-along is planned. So, are you ready to fall in love too? Let's get this beauty cast on!
(NOTE: This KAL has now finished. We would like to thank everyone who joined in and congratulate you all on your beautiful new Love Notes!)
Love Note Sweater
The Love Note sweater is a dreamy combination of mohair lace and single-ply merino. It's a top-down knit with a high-low hemline and two length options and is size inclusive as it comes in a range of sizes from 0 months to 4XL.
Knit-Along Details
Planning to join in? Well, we better get down to the details:
Cast on date is 18th September 2019 and the cast-off date is 16th October 2019.
Yes, that means you have 4 weeks to join us and complete the sweater - and we will be knitting right along with you. Never knit lace before? Not a problem, there will be some helpful tips and hints along the way via the odd video and some handy links.
A knit-along is the perfect time to meet new people (in person or virtually) and have some support while you tackle something new. Maybe you haven't knitted a garment before but you would like to try? A KAL is perfect for asking questions and getting the support needed to turn your project into a wearable garment.
Prizes
There can't have a knit-along without some fabulous prizes!
If you post a picture of your finished project (made with TIK yarn) over in the Ravelry Thread on or before the 16th of October 2019 then you are in with a chance to win:
- A Tin Can Knits eBook.
- A 40 Euro This is Knit gift voucher
- An accessory kit from KnitPro
Yarn
The Love Note is written for paired yarns, i.e. two yarns held together. For this KAL we are recommending a single-ply silk and merino blend and a laceweight mohair and silk yarn. Over at the Townhouse Yarns studio Jenny has been dyeing some very special yarns just for you and there are seven recommended colour combinations to choose from.
(EDIT: In the original blog post a discount code was offered but this has now expired.)
You can also pop over to the Townhouse Yarns and create your own perfect combination of Abbey Lace and Fade St. 4 ply.
If you are unsure about pairing yarns, then Tin Can Knits has just the blog post to help you out.
What To Do Now
Come on over and join us on Ravelry in the Autumn KAL thread and let us know you are in for the KAL. We will be using this as our chat thread until the cast on date.
You can purchase the pattern here and choose your size and yarn combinations/yardage.
Tin Can Knits have some helpful tutorials that you might find useful before we cast on, so if in doubt do check these out:
