Can you feel it? It's sweater weather and we are all getting a little excited! Just in time to start the new season, Jacqui has recently cast off Newleaf by Jennifer Steingass. Just click below for the latest This is Knit vlog.

If you have a love for colourwork but have yet to be introduced to the wonders of Jennifer Steingass, you are about to be blown away by her designs.

Jacqui chose to knit her project in CaMaRose "Organic Summer Wool" (Okologisk Summeruld) which is a mix of organic cotton and organic merino. As you will see, she continued the contrast colour from the yoke into the edge of the sleeve, a nice detail to bring the design together. Jacqui chose to knit the short sleeve version so that it could be worn on the warmer days in the shop.

Yarn Alternatives

If you are looking for some alternatives, Jacqui also mentions a new arrival, Superba Sock Yarn by Rico Design which is a cotton/bamboo blend that has a luscious shine - and for those who have a love of alpaca, there is the dreamy Adriafil Sierra Andina.

The options really are endless, as we have oodles of fingering weight/4ply hand dyed yarns that would be beautiful worked up in to this garment too.

Newleaf Pattern

This easy sweater pattern includes options for short or long sleeves. Fingering or sport weight yarn makes this garment lightweight and versatile. This piece is knit top down, seamlessly and in the round starting with a simple rolled neckline. With its easy to follow colourwork chart, this pattern is suitable for beginners and experienced knitters alike. While the design as written hits at upper hip, you can easily add or subtract length if desired. Just try on as you go and choose the length that’s best for you.

If you would like to pick up the pattern for Newleaf you can do that here. If you are having a problem choosing which Jennifer Steingass pattern to knit, you are in luck because she currently has a 'Buy 2 patterns, get 1 free!' Just pop over to Ravelry to find out more.

You can catch up with all the This is Knit Vlogs over on our YouTube channel. If you have knit a Newleaf, show us in the comments or over on any of our social channels. We would love to see it and to see what yarn/colour combinations you chose.
