Knitting Outside the Box Trunk Show and Pom Pom Press at Woollinn
May 27 2019 – Nadia Coburn
We are delighted to be hosting Bristol Ivy's Knitting Outside the Box Trunk Show at Woollinn! I will try and contain my excitement as I share today's post with all of you.
You all know Bristol’s classic tailoring and innovative techniques from her patterns and for Knitting Outside the Box, Bristol teamed up Pom Pom Press to bring you her first book. Originating from her workshop of the same name that she has been teaching and developing for four years, this publication exceeds the standard of the traditional pattern book.
Knitting Outside the Box guides the reader (and knitter) through the creative approaches Bristol uses as a designer to explore and push the endless possibilities of knitting. The book is part pattern book and part insight into her captivating design process along with information on how to shape and manipulate fabric.
In her lecture at Woollinn, Bristol will treat us all to a talk entitled: "Schrodinger’s Knitting: Taking Your Knitting Outside the Box and Bringing It to Life." After hearing about Bristol's process, you will then be able to see and feel the unique projects she created for her book at the This is Knit stand. There'll be a chance to have your own copy signed at the lecture too!
Pom Pom Quarterly
Speaking of Pom Pom, we will of course have copies of the latest issue of Pom Pom Quarterly Magazine on our stand. Issue 29 was inspired by ceramic tiles, terracotta, and sand. Expect lots of earthy shades with splashes of colour and organic, repeating patterns like this stunning Argil by Clare Lakewood.
You can find all of these and more at the This is Knit stand at Woollinn. I will be back very soon with yet more sneak peaks of what you can expect from us at this year's festival!
