Exclusive Emerald Fibres Project Bags
May 09 2018 – Nadia Coburn
We are sharing posts from now until May 25th on what you can expect from us at this year's Woollinn festival and I'm particularly excited be sharing today's featured product with you. It has been almost painful keeping quiet about these exclusive project bags! These have been exclusively designed for This is Knit as a collaboration between local artist (and TIK staff member) Eimear Earley and Ciara of Emerald Fibers.
We fell in love with Ciara's bags some time ago were delighted to get the chance to stock them in our shop. We knew that we wanted a Dublin-themed project bag so Eimear got to work with her sketch pad and conjured up this fabulous design, featuring the iconic Ha'Penny Bridge. The bridge is set against a tonal hand-wound ball of yarn in shades that are reminiscent of water and sky. Ciara diligently sourced the perfect colours of thread (including a beautiful silver for the bridge itself) and then created a test stitch for us to review. After some small final tweaks we stood back to let her work her magic, and the result is just spectacular. Ciara is a highly skilled seamstress and they project bags really show off her experience and diligent attention to detail. To say that we were blown away when we saw these bags in person is an understatement!
There are 2 sizes: a small project pouch and a large drawstring project bag. The small project bag is perfect for carrying around an accessory while the large can fit a sweater WIP.
Both bags are made from medium weight cotton canvas, with natural seeded cotton canvas linings and a woven cotton carry loop.
The large canvas bag contains four internal pockets and an antique brass clip to hold scissors/stitch markers while the small pouch has one large pocket compete with brass clip. Both bags contain the lovingly handcrafted exclusive design.
Before we leave you, you should know that there are a very limited number of these project bags available at the festival at our stand (we're Stand G2). The large bags will cost €61.50 and the zipped pouches are priced at €36.95
We will be back tomorrow with another Woollinn preview. You can find all the previews via this link.
You are keeping a list, though, right? Â
