Toph in Fibre Co Acadia
October 03 2017 – Lisa
Isn't this hat just a work of art? It's "Toph" from the new Elemental Collection by Woolly Wormhead and when it landed in the shop the other day it got many an "oooh" and an "aaah".
Joy recently knit this version from two skeins of the Fibre Co Acadia and she has been simply gushing over the pattern and the yarn ever since.
On the pattern side of things: Woolly Wormhead is one incredibly clever designer. It occurred to me the other day that I learn something new every time I knit one of her hats. With almost 14 years of knitting under my belt I think that's saying something! Woolly magically weaves creativity, inspiration, and technical mastery in to every one of her designs. Her instructions are always clear and concise, and her helpful tutorials make learning new techniques a breeze.
As for the yarn: Acadia is a truly dreamy blend of Merino, Alpaca and Silk with a delightful sheen and an enticing texture. The nestled silk noils are like delightful little jewels in the finished fabric. The colour range is also comprehensive, with shades for all tastes and skin tones. The colours in this particular hat are very "me", so Joy was lucky to get it back!
If you would like to make your own version of Toph then you will need:
- Two skeins of Acadia (one in each shade)
- 3.25mm needles
- 3.5mm needles (your choice of straight or circular. View our range of knitting needles.)
- A 3.25mm crochet hook
- And, of course, the pattern which can be purchased online via Ravelry.
